NSHE and Clark County Partner to Expand eduroam for Students and Educators at Public Locations聽
The 海角乱伦社区 (NSHE) is proud to have partnered with Clark County to expand eduroam, the secure, global Wi-Fi access service, to dozens of high-traffic public locations across the County. The collaboration represents another step forward in expanding access to reliable connectivity for students, educators, and researchers across Nevada.
鈥淓xpanding eduroam into communities like Clark County ensures students and researchers can stay connected beyond the classroom and across Nevada,鈥 said Anne Milkovich, Chief Information Officer for NSHE. 鈥淭his partnership builds on the momentum we鈥檝e already established and continues our statewide effort to give students and educators the ability to connect and learn from virtually anywhere.鈥
This effort is part of NSHE鈥檚 broader initiative to expand eduroam beyond college campuses. With support from the state, the service is offered at no cost to local government and community partners. NSHE System Computing Services (SCS) partners with K-12 schools, libraries, museums, and municipalities to expand access across the state.
Key locations in the Clark County rollout include:
- The Clark County Government Center
- The Russell Campus buildings
- All County parks and other high-traffic facilities where residents gather
The expansion also aligns with Clark County鈥檚 Broadband Adoption and Community Engagement Program, which was recently awarded $10.7 million from the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) to support digital literacy, workforce development, device access, and improved connectivity for underserved communities.
鈥淭he County continues to lead the efforts throughout Southern Nevada to provide everyone, including students, educators, and researchers with reliable and secure internet access to foster collaboration and innovation across the entire community,鈥 said Bob Leek, Chief Information Officer for Clark County. 鈥淲e are glad to partner with NSHE SCS to add even more connectivity options and build digital inclusion throughout all of Clark County.鈥
