NSHE Identifies Six Strategies to Improve Student Success
Chancellor Thom Reilly presented six student success strategies aimed at improving student success at Nevada鈥檚 public higher education institutions.
The six strategies were developed and discussed at the 海角乱伦社区 (NSHE) Student Success Summit in January.
鈥淣SHE is singularly focused on student success and improving transparency and accountability for our institutions in these areas. These strategies will help guide our institutions toward increasing graduation rates,鈥� Reilly said.
Board of Regents鈥� Chair Kevin J. Page said the strategies are based on national evidence and best practices that have improved student success rates from higher education institutions across the nation.
鈥淚t鈥檚 not enough to get students to go to college, we have to refocus our efforts, from presidents to professors, on getting students to graduate,鈥� Page said. 鈥淏y graduating, a student creates a pathway to the middle class and a better future.鈥�
In January, the presidents of NSHE鈥檚 institutions adopted graduation and persistence rates and set goals (see below) for 2025 at the Student Success Summit.
As an integrated system NSHE鈥檚 institutions, UNLV, University of Nevada, Reno, the College of Southern Nevada; Great Basin College; Nevada State College; Truckee Meadows Community College; Western Nevada College; and Desert Research Institute, can address all higher education needs from community college through doctoral and professional programs.
